Xpeng said it will unveil its cutting-edge technology roadmap for autonomous driving and mobility ecosystem, including its smart EVs and robotics.

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) will hold its annual Tech Day event next week, with autonomous driving technology, robotics, and artificial intelligence (AI) expected to be the key topics.

Xpeng will hold its Tech Day 2023 event on Tuesday, October 24, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker said in an English-language statement today.

Xpeng will unveil its cutting-edge technology roadmap for autonomous driving and mobility ecosystem, including its smart EVs and robotics, the company said.

A live Chinese-language broadcast of the event will begin at 8 pm Beijing time (8 am US Eastern Time on October 24), and an English-language replay will be available starting at 7:00 pm Beijing time on October 25, the company said.

Xpeng’s English-language statement offers nothing more. Separately, the company wrote on Weibo earlier today, “Xpeng + AI = #1024 Xpeng Tech Day,” suggesting that AI will be one of the topics of the event.

Xpeng’s poster on Weibo shows that the event will be held at its manufacturing site in Guangzhou, where it is headquartered.

This year will be Xpeng’s fifth 1024 Tech Day event, and the company has fixed the date at October 24 because it’s considered a Programmer’s Day in China. 1024 is equal to 2 to the 10th power, one of the basic units of measurement for binary counting.

At last year’s Tech Day event, Xpeng unveiled the latest version of its flying car, its next-generation neural-network-based perception architecture, XNet, as well as progress on robotaxi and XNGP (Navigation Guided Pilot).

On March 31 of this year, Xpeng announced that XNGP achieved phase 1 capability, giving the G9 Max and P7i Max City NGP capability in Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou, three cities with high-precision map coverage.

The XNGP system will enable full-scenario Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) from start to parking when the full rollout is completed in 2024, the company said at the time.

Xpeng’s City NGP opened in Beijing on June 15 for users participating in a public beta test, mainly for Beijing’s ring roads and major expressways.

At next week’s 1024 Tech Day event, Xpeng is expected to announce more progress on the XNGP feature.
