TVR Is Back Again—And It Could Go Electric

TVR is back—again. For real this time. Maybe. The British sports car maker that seems impossible to kill has a new owner, less than a decade after businessman Les Edgar tried—and failed—to revive the company for a second time.

Charge Holdings has reportedly acquired the TVR name. The company is the same one behind Charge Cars, which in 2022 introduced a restomodded Ford Mustang with a fully electric powertrain. Now, Charge Holdings plans to take a similar approach with TVR.

According to multiple reports, Charge aims to produce and sell the striking Griffith concept unveiled in 2022. The move will be part of a “multi-phased restructuring,” according to Top Gear, with an “electrified” powertrain replacing the concept’s original 5.0-liter V8, which produced 500 horsepower. The company stated:

‘TVR will remain focused on delivering the new Griffith to customers, continuing its legacy of high-performance, internal combustion sports cars.’

Details are still scarce, but CEO Paul Abercrombie promises that more information will be revealed early next year. If the new ownership sticks, the long-awaited Griffith revival may finally make it to production—V-8 likely not included.
