Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) will begin Cybertruck’s tour of China this weekend, and has announced the exact locations where the electric pickup will make its debut here.

Cybertruck’s tour of China will begin on Sunday, January 28, and the model will be debut in eight cities — Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Xi’an, Chengdu, and Chongqing, according to a Weibo post released by Tesla today.

Specifically, the eight stores are located at:

    China Central Place, Beijing (北京华贸中心)

    HKRI Taikoo Hui, Shanghai (上海兴业太古汇)

    Mixc World, Shenzhen (深圳万象天地)

    Hubin Intime In77, Hangzhou (杭州湖滨in77)

    Deji Plaza, Nanjing (南京德基广场)

    SKP, Xian (西安SKP)

    Sino-Ocean Taikoo Li, Chengdu (成都太古里)

    Longfor Paradise Walk (重庆龙湖时代天街)

Tesla has emphasized that the Cybertruck is an off-road touring vehicle, trying to downplay its pickup truck character.

In China, pickup trucks have been unpopular for the past few decades, mainly because of policy restrictions.

For example, on Chinese highways, pickup trucks are required to drive in the rightmost slow lane and are not allowed to exceed 100 kilometers per hour. Regular passenger cars can go up to 120 kilometers per hour on the highway.

Pickup trucks in China are also required to be used for no more than 15 years and need to be scrapped at the end of that time.

In addition, many Chinese cities have restrictions on pickup trucks entering urban areas, although these restrictions have been scaled back over the past few years.

Tesla unveiled the Cybertruck in November 2019 and began deliveries of the model on November 30, 2023.

The US electric vehicle (EV) maker said earlier this month that eight Cybertrucks would debut simultaneously in eight Chinese cities.

After the eight city debuts, all of Tesla’s other models — Model S, Model X, Model 3, and Model Y — will embark on a nationwide tour with the Cybertruck.
