The Tesla poster didn’t provide details, but it seems to be referring to the Model Y’s standard-range version being sold out of available capacity for 2023.

The standard-range version of Tesla’s (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model Y is sold out in China, according to a poster shared by several Tesla salespeople among CnEVPost’s contacts in their WeChat status.

“Thank you for your dedication in 2023, on Tesla’s way to delivering 1.8 million cars globally,” the text in the poster reads.

There’s not much more to the poster, but Tesla seems to be referring to the Model Y’s standard-range version has sold out of available capacity for the year, and customers who order now won’t get deliveries until next month.

Tesla said on October 2 that it was keeping its 2023 sales target of about 1.8 million vehicles unchanged.

The US electric vehicle maker has a factory in Shanghai that produces the Model 3 and Model Y, both for deliveries to local customers and as an export hub.

The factory currently has an annual capacity of more than 950,000 vehicles, its largest in the world, according to the company’s third-quarter financial report released in October.

Although Tesla’s poster says the base Model Y is sold out, its China website has not yet been updated with information on wait times.

The Model Y is offered in three versions in China — the base rear-wheel-drive version, the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive Model Y Long Range version, and the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive Model Y Performance version — with starting prices of RMB 266,400 ($37,180), RMB 306,400, RMB 363,900.

Waiting times for these three versions are 2-6 weeks, 6-8 weeks, and 2-6 weeks, respectively, as before.

The Model 3 is offered in two versions in China — the base version with rear-wheel drive, and the Model 3 Long Range version with dual-motor all-wheel drive. They start at RMB 261,400 and RMB 297,400 respectively.

The wait times for these two versions are 2-6 weeks and 6-9 weeks, respectively.

Tesla sold 82,432 China-made vehicles in November, including 16,928 exported and 65,504 sold in China, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
