The CEO of Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) hinted at aggressive sales targets for 2024, as the company closed out 2023 with strong deliveries.

Li Auto will challenge for 800,000 annual deliveries in 2024, as well as 100,000 monthly deliveries, Li Xiang, the company’s founder, chairman, and CEO, hinted at today on Weibo.

    Li wrote in Weibo:

    All 2023 targets reached: 376,000, 50,000, 20,000, 300.

    In 2024 (we will) challenge higher targets: 800,000, 100,000, 30,000, 2,000.

The Li Auto CEO didn’t directly mention what these numbers mean, but they should be annual deliveries, highest monthly deliveries, monthly deliveries of a single vehicle model, and number of supercharging stations, respectively.

Li Auto delivered a record 50,353 vehicles in December, marking the first time monthly deliveries have exceeded the 50,000-unit mark, according to figures released by the company earlier today.

For the full year 2023, Li Auto delivered 376,030 vehicles, up 182.21 percent year-on-year.

Li Auto is the first local new energy vehicle (NEV) maker to hint at a 2024 delivery target, which confirms an earlier local media report.

On November 7, 36kr reported that Nio (NYSE: NIO) provided its supply chain with a 2024 sales forecast of more than 230,000 units, Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) of more than 280,000 units and Li Auto of more than 800,000 units.

That sales forecast by Nio excludes the sub-brand codenamed Alps and Xpeng excludes the new brand codenamed Mona, the report noted.

Li Auto currently sells three models, the Li L7, Li L8 and Li L9, which are extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), essentially plug-in hybrids, aimed at a larger market than battery electric vehicles (BEVs). Nio and Xpeng models are all BEVs.

Li Auto didn’t mention breakdown sales figures for its three models, though Li’s Weibo hinted that one of them saw more than 20,000 monthly deliveries in December.

Li Auto is in the process of building its own supercharging station to prepare for its upcoming BEV models.

On April 20, 2023, Li Auto opened its first seven supercharging stations for trial operations.

Yesterday, Li Auto said on Weibo that it reached 300 supercharging stations, accomplishing its 2023 goal.

Li Auto will officially launch the Li Mega MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) on March 1, a few months delay from the previously planned December, according to information it announced yesterday.
