China’s October wholesale sales of passenger NEVs are expected to be 890,000 units, up 32 percent year-on-year and up 7 percent from September, the CPCA said.

China’s wholesale sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) are poised to hit another new high as sales momentum continues.

Wholesale sales of passenger NEVs in China are expected to be 890,000 units in October, up 32 percent year-on-year and up 7 percent from September, the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) said in a report today.

In September, 17 manufacturers with wholesale sales of more than 10,000 units of NEVs contributed 88.4 percent of all wholesale sales, the CPCA said.

The estimated sales of these carmakers in October were 787,000 units, and according to the normal structure, China’s October wholesale sales of passenger NEVs will be at 890,000 units, the CPCA said.

In the January-October period, China’s passenger NEV wholesale sales were 6.8 million units, up 36 percent year-on-year, preliminary estimates show, according to the report.

In China, NEVs include battery electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, and fuel cell vehicles.

China celebrated the National Day holiday in early October, giving car companies plenty of time to sell, the CPCA said.

Overseas automotive market conditions are favorable, with Chinese passenger NEV exports continuing to strengthen recently, the CPCA noted.

At the end of last year, the CPCA projected China’s passenger NEV sales at 8.5 million units this year, which would contribute 36 percent of the 23.5 million units of all passenger cars sold.

The current state of China’s passenger NEV market is largely in line with the CPCA’s forecast at the end of last year, the report said.

Below are the wholesale NEV sales of major automakers in October, as announced by the CPCA.
