Li Auto saw 8,700 insurance registrations last week, Xpeng 2,800, Zeekr 3,700, Leapmotor 3,500 and Aito 4,600.

Major electric vehicle (EV) makers saw a dip in insurance registrations in China last week as they were affected by the National Day holiday.

For the week of September 30 to October 6, Nio (NYSE: NIO) saw 4,500 insurance registrations in China, down 26.23 percent from 6,100 in the previous week, according to data shared today by Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI).

Li Auto stopped sharing weekly insurance registrations numbers earlier this year, after doing so for about 1 year. In early May, it resumed sharing those numbers.

October 1-7 was China’s National Day holiday, which caused disruptions to vehicle deliveries and insurance registrations, although several EV makers reported strong sales during the period.

The numbers shared by Li Auto are by brands and do not appear to include sales of Nio’s sub-brand Onvo.

Nio officially launched Onvo’s first model, the L60, on September 19 and deliveries began on September 28.

It delivered 21,181 vehicles in September, the second highest ever, behind the record high of 21,209 in June.

It is the fifth consecutive month that Nio as a group has delivered more than the 20,000 mark, including 20,349 for the main Nio brand and 832 for Onvo.

Li Auto had 8,700 insurance registrations last week, down 38.73 percent from 14,200 the week before.

It delivered a record 53,709 vehicles in September, surpassing the previous record of 51,000 in July.

That’s up 48.94 percent year-on-year and up 11.61 percent from 48,122 in August.

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) had 2,800 insurance registrations last week, down 55.56 percent from 6,300 the previous week.

The EV maker delivered 21,352 vehicles in September, up 39.46 percent year-on-year and up 52.12 percent from August.

Xpeng’s new model, the Mona M03, delivered more than 10,000 units in its first full delivery month, the company said on October 1, without disclosing specific numbers.

Xpeng will unveil its new flagship electric sedan, the P7+, on October 10, it announced yesterday on its social media accounts.

Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) had 1,800 insurance registrations in China last week, down 92.04 percent from 22,600 in the previous week.

The US EV maker’s September sales in China are not yet available, and they are expected to be released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) later this week.

Tesla China sold 86,697 vehicles in August, including 23,241 for export, according to the CPCA.

Tesla sold 63,456 vehicles in China in August, a new high for the year, which was a 1.91 percent decrease from 64,694 a year earlier, but a 37.27 percent increase from 46,227 in July.

Tesla has a factory in Shanghai that makes the Model 3sedan and Model Y crossover, both for deliveries to local customers and as an export hub for it.

BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) had 67,600 insurance registrations last week, down 36.11 percent from 105,800 the week before.

The company sold a record 419,426 NEVs in September, its fourth consecutive record month.

That’s up 45.91 percent from 287,454 a year ago and up 12.42 percent from 373,083 in August.

Xiaomi (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY) had 3,800 insurance registrations last week, flat from the previous week.

Xiaomi’s first electric vehicle (EV) model, the SU7, delivered more than 10,000 units in September, the phone maker’s EV unit, Xiaomi EV, announced on October 1.

As it has done for the past three months, Xiaomi EV did not release specific figures for SU7 monthly deliveries.

The SU7 has seen deliveries of more than 10,000 units for four consecutive months, Xiaomi EV said, adding that it was aiming to produce and deliver more than 20,000 vehicles in October.

Zeekr (NYSE: ZK) saw 3,700 insurance registrations last week, down 36.21 percent from 5,800 the week before.

The EV maker delivered 21,333 vehicles in September, surpassing June’s previous record of 20,106 vehicles for a record high, and was the second month over the 20,000 mark.

That was up 76.99 percent year-on-year and 18.42 percent from August.

Zeekr launched the Zeekr 7X electric SUV, its second model for the mainstream EV market, on September 20, with deliveries beginning on September 21.

As of October 7, firm orders for the Zeekr 7X had topped 20,000 units, with deliveries expected to exceed 10,000 units in the first full delivery month, according to a statement shared with CnEVPost yesterday.

Leapmotor (HKG: 9863) registered 3,500 insurance registrations last week, down 65.35 percent from 10,100 the week before.

It delivered 33,767 vehicles in September, marking the second consecutive month of more than 30,000 units, as well as the fourth consecutive record month.

That was up 113.72 percent from 15,800 in the same period last year and up 11.42 percent from 30,305 in August.

Aito — a brand jointly created by Huawei and Seres Group — registered 4,600 vehicles for insurance last week, a 50.54 percent decrease from 9,300 in the previous week.
