In the January 1-14 period, Nio was 4,700, Xpeng 2,800, Li Auto 11,000 and Tesla 10,600 units.
For the week of January 8-14, Li Auto’s (NASDAQ: LI) had weekly sales of 6,800 units, placing it second in sales for new car-making brands in China, the company said today.
As before, Li Auto didn’t explain the basis for calculating that weekly sales volume, but apparently, they were insurance registrations. The company suspended sharing these figures in May 2023, but has since resumed sharing them.
Li Auto’s figures for last week were up 58.14 percent from the previous week’s figure of 4,300. Between January 1-14, Li Auto had 11,000 insurance registrations.
Huawei-backed Aito topped Li Auto’s weekly sales list of new carmakers, with 6,800 units last week. Li Auto did not share figures down to single digits.
Aito was also No. 1 on the list for the week of January 1-7 with 5,900 units, above Li Auto’s 4,300 units.
Aito had a weak sales performance in most months of 2023, but the launch of the new M7 in September turned its fortunes around. By the end of December, the new M7 had received more than 120,000 firm orders, it said on January 1.
Nio (NYSE: NIO) had 1,700 insurance registrations in China last week, down 43.33 percent from 3,000 the week before.
During January 1-14, Nio’s figure was 4,700 units.
Nio delivered 18,012 vehicles in December, the third-highest on record behind July’s 20,462 and August’s 19,329, according to figures it announced on January 1.
Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) was at 1,400 vehicles last week, unchanged from 1,400 the week before.
For the January 1-14 period, Xpeng was at 2,800 units.
Xpeng delivered 20,115 vehicles in December, its third consecutive month above the 20,000-unit mark, according to figures it announced on January 1.
Xpeng announced earlier today that it began volume deliveries of its X9 MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) in China.
Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) vehicles had 7,400 insurance registrations in China last week, up 131.25 percent from 3,200 the week before.
For the January 1-14 period, Tesla had that number at 10,600 vehicles.
Tesla sold 94,139 China-made vehicles in December, including 75,805 delivered in China and 18,334 exported from its Shanghai plant, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDF) had 40,300 insurance registrations in China last week, down 9.23 percent from 44,400 in the previous week.
For the January 1-14 period, BYD was at 84,700 units.
BYD sold 341,043 NEVs in December, including 340,178 passenger NEVs, and 865 commercial NEVs, according to figures it announced on January 1.
BYD’s premium brand Denza was at 1,500 units last week, down 6.25 percent from 1,600 units in the previous week.
Denza sold 11,929 units in December, including 10,492 D9 MPVs, 1,035 N7 SUVs, and 402 N8 SUVs.
For the January 1-14 period, Denza was at 3,100 units.
Zeekr was at 2,200 units last week, down 8.33 percent from 2,400 units the week before.
For the January 1-14 period, Zeekr was 4,700 units.
Leapmotor was at 2,600 units last week, down 7.14 percent from 2,800 units the previous week.
For the January 1-14 period, Leapmotor was at 5,400 units.
Leapmotor delivered 18,618 vehicles in December, a new all-time record, according to its January 1 release.
Neta was at 1,300 units last week, and the company had failed to make Li Auto’s lists for the past three weeks. Neta’s figures for the January 1-14 period are not available.
Neta delivered 5,135 vehicles in December, down 34.12 percent year-on-year and down 58.94 percent from November.
