Deepal’s SUV model S7 delivered 10,039 units and SL03 sedan 4,697 units in August.

Deepal, Changan Automobile’s new energy vehicle (NEV) brand, delivered a record 14,736 vehicles in August, up 11.87 percent from 13,172 in July, according to data released today.

Deepal’s SUV model S7 delivered 10,039 vehicles in August, the company said.

Deepal currently has only two models on sale — the SL03 sedan, and the S7. The SL03 delivered 4,697 vehicles in August, CnEVPost calculations show.

In January-August, Deepal delivered 69,534 vehicles.

Deepal, Changan’s NEV brand launched in 2022, officially launched the Deepal SL03 sedan, a strong competitor to the Model 3, on July 25 last year, with deliveries starting in September last year.

The Deepal S7 was unveiled on March 5, a similar model to the Tesla Model Y crossover. The S7 was officially launched in China on June 25.

Both Deepal models are available in battery electric vehicle (BEV) versions, as well as extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions similar to Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) vehicles.

Deepal’s goals for 2023 include selling 200,000 vehicles, as well as making both the SL03 and S7 hot sellers, the brand’s CEO Deng Chenghao said in an interview with Auto Home in April.

Despite its relatively short history, the brand has become one of China’s most recognizable NEV makers.

Zeekr, Deepal, and Nio (NYSE: NIO) are among the NEV brands that offer the best customer experience in China, according to a survey released August 24 by US market researcher JD Power.
