BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDF) BYD secured 5,455 orders at the Thailand auto show that ended earlier this week, placing it third on the show’s sales list, it said today, without mentioning who the top two were.

The show, which began on November 29 and ended on December 11, featured more than 30 car brands.

BYD displayed five models at the show, including the Atto 3, Dolphin, Seal, Yangwang U8 and Denza N7. The Atto 3, known as the Yuan Plus in China, is BYD’s first global model.

The 5,455 orders received proves that the performance and technological innovations of BYD’s electric vehicles have been widely recognized, said BYD Thailand’s general manager Ke Yubin.

It also proves the strong competitiveness of BYD’s products in terms of value for money, technological innovation and meeting the needs of local consumers, he said.

In November, the BYD Dolphin was the top-selling all-electric vehicle in Thailand, with 2,825 units sold, and the Atto 3 was No. 2 with 1,142 units sold, Ke said.

The Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) giant mentioned last month that the Atto 3 continues to sell well in regions including Thailand, Singapore, New Zealand, Brazil, and that the company will launch more competitive NEV models in global markets.

In Thailand, BYD is building a plant to produce locally.

On March 10, BYD held a groundbreaking ceremony for the plant, which is located at WHA Rayong 36 Industrial Estate and covers an area of nearly 960,000 square meters.

BYD’s Thailand plant is expected to start production in 2024 with an annual capacity of about 150,000 vehicles, the company said in March.

BYD says Atto 3 well received in several countries, to launch more models in global markets
