BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) aims to achieve 1.3 million overseas sales in 2026, said Li Yunfei, the Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) giant’s general manager of branding and public relations.

Li disclosed the target to media outlets including CnEVPost during a media gathering in Shanghai on Saturday, representing about 24% growth.

    BYD Annual NEV Exports 2023-2026
    Year NEV Exports
    2023 242,765
    2024 417,204

BYD annual NEV exports (2026 target)

The company exported 1,046,083 NEVs — including passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles — in 2025, marking a 150.74% year-on-year increase, according to data compiled by CnEVPost from BYD’s monthly reports.

BYD sold 1,049,601 passenger vehicles and pickup trucks in 2025, marking a 145% year-on-year increase, according to data the company released earlier this month on Weibo.

The company’s Shark pickup model, available only in overseas markets including Mexico, Brazil, Australia, Cambodia, and several other markets, is currently its sole vehicle not launched in the domestic Chinese market.

In a November report, Citigroup cited BYD management as saying that the company’s 2026 overseas sales guidance ranges from 1.5 million to 1.6 million units.

BYD’s overseas sales structure is balanced across regions, with Europe, North America, and ASEAN each accounting for one-third of its total overseas sales in 2025, the report noted.

    BYD sold 4,602,436 NEVs in 2025, a 7.73% year-on-year increase. Passenger vehicle sales reached 4,545,423 units, up 6.94% year-on-year.

The company sold 2,256,714 passenger battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in 2025, surpassing Tesla’s 1,636,129 units for the first time, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

BYD’s plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) passenger models sold 2,288,709 units in 2025, down 7.91% year-on-year.
