Rivian announced today that its long-awaited R1T Dual-Motor pickup with the largest Max Pack battery received EPA-estimated range ratings. The results are slightly better than initially estimated and pretty impressive with up to 410 miles in the default configuration. Redwood Materials, the battery recycling startup founded by Tesla co-founder and current board member JB Straubel, has raised more than $1 billion in Series D shares from its most recent equity funding round. The round was co-led by Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Capricorn’s Technology Impact Fund, as well as funds and accounts advised by T. Rowe Price Associates. After a fire broke out at Kia’s No. 3 plant in Hwaseong, South Korea, Tuesday, the automaker is pausing production until September 6. Kia’s EV6 electric crossover is one of the models built at the facility. Mercedes-Benz has confirmed pricing for its full-size, cargo- and upfit-oriented electric van lineup, called eSprinter, and orders for these EVs are now open. In Standard Output form, the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter starts at $74,181, Including the $2,295 destination charge, while the High Output version starts at $77,611. The U.S. Department of the Treasury missed its deadline to release guidance defining what kind of hydrogen production will qualify for maximum tax credits under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The agency had a year from the passage of the IRA last August to release this guidance, which will help producers determine how to net tax credits of up to $3 per kilogram of hydrogen, according to Automotive News. The tax credit is meant to incentivize climate-neutral “green hydrogen” over other methods that are carbon-intensive.
