Israel-based battery firm StoreDot on Thursday announced a “strategic collaboration” with Volvo to develop very fast-charging battery cells for future EVs. The partnership will produce cells “optimized and tailored for Volvo’s future electric vehicle architecture,” according to a StoreDot press release. The company expects to deliver the first samples to Volvo for testing next year, but isn’t discussing when its cell tech might appear in production vehicles from the Swedish automaker. Volkswagen will assemble the upcoming all-electric Golf hatchback at its home factory in Wolfsburg, Germany toward the end of this decade, alongside other Scalable Systems Platform-based (SSP) models, the company announced today. Honda on Thursday announced deals with two major charging networks in preparation for the launch of the Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX electric SUVs in early 2024. Agreements with EVgo and Electrify America will give Honda and Acura EV drivers “single-app access” to charging stations on both networks, according to a Honda press release. Kia plans a full lineup of electric vehicles covering a wide range of market segments, especially crossovers and SUVs of all sizes.
