The 2024 Toyota Highlander Hybrid adds a new Nightshade Edition grade for the coming model year, while remains otherwise unchanged. Already available on several other Toyota models, including the smaller Corolla Cross Hybrid for 2024, the Nightshade Edition amounts to a blackout appearance package. On the Highlander Hybrid Nightshade, the blackout treatment extends to the 18-inch wheels, grille, mirror caps, and rear badging. Plug-in electric car sales in China continue to increase and in August reached an unprecedented level of 750,000 units. According to EV Volumes’ data, shared by Jose Pontes, 750,735 new passenger plug-in electric cars were registered in China in August, which is roughly 36 percent more than a year ago. The market share of plug-ins also appears to be at a record level of 39 percent. That’s basically two out of five new cars sold. Volkswagen on Friday confirmed plans for a new electric version of the Golf hatchback, to be built in Wolfsburg, Germany, starting later in the decade. Electrify America on Wednesday announced the opening of a DC fast-charging station near the Grand Canyon, putting its natural splendor within reach of more EV drivers. Located at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center at the south entrance of Grand Canyon National Park in Tusayan, Arizona, the charging station includes six individual chargers with power rates up to 350 kw—the maximum currently offered on the Electrify American network.
