Tesla is rolling out a new safety feature for its entire portfolio of passenger cars sold in the United States that should provide better visibility after a crash. Starting yesterday, all US-bound Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, as well as Model S and Model X cars made after 2020 and sold here will get an over-the-air (OTA) update that will add a hazard light auto-activation feature after an airbag is deployed. General Motors’ third-quarter financial results show a slow production ramp of Ultium EVs but indicate the automaker is unlikely to meet its near-future electric vehicle delivery targets. GM reported that it delivered just 4,222 Ultium EVs in Q3, compared to 15,835 Bolt EV and Bolt EUV models. The Bolt EV and EUV, which are based on a different architecture than the Ultium models, are scheduled to end production this year. GM has said they will be replaced by an Ultium-based successor. The Cadillac Lyriq had the highest delivery total among the current Ultium models, at 3,018 units for the quarter.…

Nissan is unveiling four EV concepts in the weeks leading up to the 2023 Tokyo auto show. Each will have the prefix “hyper,” with one debuting each week until the Tokyo show’s press day, scheduled for Oct. 25. First up is the Hyper Urban crossover which, according to Nissan’s press materials, targets “urban- and suburban-based professionals.” Nissan apparently thinks these customers want bold exterior styling. A new video surfaced online showing a release candidate (RC) Tesla Cybertruck accelerating quite hard from a standstill after waiting for the traffic light to turn green. Shot and published on YouTube by Levi Filippi, the 53-second video was initially posted on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum by another member, but the original source was later revealed in the replies. General Motors reports 674,336 vehicle deliveries during the third quarter of 2023 in the United States, which is 21 percent more than a year ago. The total volume so far this year amounted to 1,969,522 (up 19 percent year-over-year). The all-electric vehicle sales are also growing in the US, but both the volume (especially Ultium-based models) and the year-over-year growth rate are considered disappointing.
