Dongfeng Nissan, Nissan Motor’s joint venture in China, has officially launched the N6 hybrid sedan as another competitively priced model after the N7 pure electric sedan.

The N6 was officially launched at an event today with a limited-time starting price of RMB 91,900 ($13,000), representing a reduction of RMB 17,100 (16.38 percent) from its pre-sales starting price of RMB 109,900.

The mid-size sedan is the first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) under Dongfeng Nissan’s Tianyan architecture, originally scheduled for launch on December 8.

Dongfeng Nissan offers five variants of the N6, with official starting prices of RMB 99,900, RMB 109,900, RMB 114,900, RMB 121,900, and RMB 129,800.

An RMB 8,000 limited-time discount is available for all variants, bringing the effective starting price down to RMB 91,900.

The Dongfeng Nissan N6 will compete in the Chinese market against popular models including the BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) Qin L DM-i and the Geely Galaxy A7.

The five-seat rear-wheel-drive sedan measures 4,831 mm in length, 1,885 mm in width, and 1,491 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,815 mm.

The N6 is powered by a 1.5L engine delivering a peak power of 75 kW.

It features a single electric motor with a peak power of 155 kW and peak torque of 320 Nm, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 or 6.9 seconds.

The two lower-priced variants feature a 21.1-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supplied by Rept Battero Energy (HKG: 0666), offering a CLTC range of 180 kilometers.

The highest-priced variant features a 20.3-kWh LFP battery supplied by CATL (HKG: 3750, SHE: 300750), offering a CLTC range of 180 km or 170 km.

All three variants offer 180 km CLTC range and can charge from 30 percent to 80 percent in 17 or 20 minutes.

Over recent years, China’s rapid electrification has seen domestic brands rise while joint ventures lagged.

Nissan’s N7 launch in late April marks a major counteroffensive as Japanese automakers face marginalization in China’s EV market.
