Fang Cheng Bao has reached 200,000 units sold, marking a milestone for BYD‘s (HKG: 1211) young, personalized sub-brand.

The brand shared this milestone on Weibo today, indicating it has sold 22,588 vehicles so far this month, considering its cumulative sales as of the end of September stood at 177,412 units.

Fang Cheng Bao vehicles have achieved an average transaction price of RMB 238,800 ($33,530) to date, the brand said.

In China, the passenger vehicle market segment priced between RMB 100,000 and RMB 200,000 represents the largest of all price brackets, with sales reaching 7.81 million units from January to September, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

Next is the segment below RMB 100,000, which sold 4.54 million units from January to September. Following that is the RMB 200,000 to RMB 300,000 price bracket, which sold 2.7 million units during the same period.

BYD officially launched the Fang Cheng Bao brand on August 16, 2023, targeting the personalized mobility market, particularly the off-road segment.

It currently offers two models in the Bao series, primarily targeting the off-road market, and two models in the more family-oriented Tai series.

The brand’s first model, the Bao 5 off-road SUV (sport utility vehicle), was launched on November 9, 2023, followed by the second model, the Bao 8 off-road SUV, on November 12, 2024.

The Tai 3 SUV, the first model in the Tai series, was launched on April 17 this year, followed by the Tai 7 SUV on September 9.

Fang Cheng Bao achieved record monthly sales of 24,121 vehicles in September, comprising 5,425 Bao 5 units, 1,666 Bao 8 units, 8,902 Tai 3 units, and 8,128 Tai 7 units.

BYD Fang Cheng Bao launches new variants for Bao 5 and Bao 8 to target broader customer base

The new Bao 5 variants nearly double battery range, while the Bao 8 adds a five-seat version alongside existing six- and seven-seat options.
