BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has made a regulatory filing for the Sealion 06, and the SUV (sport utility vehicle) will be the newest member of its Sealion family.
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the latest catalog of upcoming models that will be allowed to be sold for public comment yesterday, and the BYD Sealion 06 is included.
The public can submit their feedback between April 17-23. Entering the catalog is the last major regulatory process before a model can be allowed to be sold in China.
The Sealion 06 has six pages in the catalog, including three battery electric vehicle (BEV) versions and three plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) models.
The production addresses for the 3 BEV versions include BYD’s two production bases in Xi’an, Shaanxi province and Changzhou, Jiangsu province, while the 3 PHEV models are produced at BYD’s production base in Xi’an.
The SUV measures 4,810 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width and 1,675 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.
These dimensions are slightly larger than those of the Sealion 05 EV SUV, which has a length, width and height of 4,520 mm, 1,860 mm and 1,630 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,720 mm.
The Sealion 06 weighs between 1,890 kg and 2,190 kg, and all BEV versions support a top speed of 185 kilometers per hour, and the PHEV version 180 kilometers per hour.
The BEV versions are available in single-motor and dual-motor options, with the single-motor version having a choice of 170 kW and 180 kW of peak motor power. The dual-motor version comes with front and rear motors with maximum power of 110 kW and 180 kW respectively.
The PHEV versions are powered by an engine with a displacement of 1,498 ml and a maximum power of 74 kW. They also come with a single motor with a peak power of 160 kW.
The Sealion 06 is expected to further enrich BYD’s Sealion family.
