    • Xpeng will launch the G6 SUV, G9 SUV, and X9 MPV in Bahrain in the second half of this year.
    • It plans to complete full coverage of the six Gulf countries of the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain in 2025.

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) has inked a distributor deal to enter the Bahraini auto market, as the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker aims to double its international presence this year.

The company recently entered into a strategic partnership with Ebrahim K. Kanoo, Bahrain’s largest automotive distributor group, to officially enter this key market in the Gulf region, according to an announcement today.

Xpeng’s G6 SUV (sport utility vehicle), G9 SUV, and X9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) will be launched in Bahrain in the second half of 2025, according to the company.

Leveraging Kanoo’s extensive sales and service network, these Xpeng models will bring a revolutionary smart mobility experience to local consumers, the company said.

As the largest car dealer in Bahrain, Kanoo has nearly 40 percent market share in the country and operates across multiple sectors, according to Xpeng.

The Gulf region is a strategically important market in the Middle East region, with a huge potential for the development of new energy vehicles (NEVs), Xpeng said.

The company has already entered the United Arab Emirates (UAE) market and will start selling vehicles in Qatar in the second quarter.

Xpeng signed an agreement in September 2024 designating Pioneer Motors, a subsidiary of Qatar’s Almana Group, as its exclusive distributor in Qatar.

The G6, G9 and P7 sedan were expected to be available in the Qatari market by the end of 2024, Xpeng said last September. That plan now appears to have been delayed.

Xpeng plans to complete full coverage of the six Gulf countries of UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain in 2025, it said today.

The company will start with the Gulf region and increase its coverage of the Middle East and Africa markets to accelerate globalization, it said.

Xpeng has significantly stepped up its efforts to expand internationally over the past year, and it now operates in more than 30 international markets.
The company plans to expand its international presence to more than 60 countries and regions this year and achieve 50 percent of its sales from overseas markets over the next 10 years, it previously said.

Last month, Xpeng announced it had started pre-sales of its G6 and X9 in Indonesia, and plans to start localized production in Indonesia in the second half of 2025.

Xpeng CEO says confident of doubling deliveries in 2025

Xpeng delivered 190,068 vehicles in 2024, and doubling means it’s targeting 2025 deliveries of about 380,000 units.
