Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) is offering a limited-time offer on the 2024 G9 SUV, which officially went on sale in September 2023.

Customers who buy a 2024 G9 between February 1-29 can get up to RMB 10,000 ($1,390) off, according to a statement from Xpeng today.

The offer includes a RMB 5,000 subsidy for all G9 models, as well as an additional RMB 5,000 subsidy for models with a CLTC range of 570 kilometers.

This lowers the G9’s starting price to RMB 253,900 in February, Xpeng said, adding that it is the company’s offer for the upcoming Chinese New Year.

The Chinese New Year holiday runs from February 10 to 17.

In addition to that cash offer, Xpeng is also offering option discounts worth up to RMB 11,000 for the G9.

The Xpeng G9 was initially launched on September 21, 2022, but the confusing configurations at launch sparked a lot of dissatisfaction that overshadowed its appeal.

On September 19, 2023, Xpeng launched the 2024 G9 at a starting price of RMB 263,900, RMB 46,000 lower than the RMB 309,900 of the older model.

Here are the prices of the 2024 G9 as displayed on Xpeng’s website:

    G9 570 Pro, starting at RMB 263,900.

    G9 570 Max, starting at RMB 289,900.

    G9 702 Pro, starting at RMB 283,900.

    G9 702 Max, starting at RMB 309,900.

    G9 650 Max, starting at RMB 359,900.

Xpeng delivered 8,250 vehicles in January, up 58.11 percent year-on-year, but down 58.99 percent from December, according to figures it announced on February 1.

The X9 MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) delivered 2,478 units in January, Xpeng said yesterday, without mentioning deliveries of other models.

The X9 was officially launched on January 1, and on January 16 Xpeng said deliveries of the model began.

Other models shown on Xpeng’s website include the G3i SUV, G6 SUV, P5 sedan, P7 sedan and P7i sedan.

On January 31, He Xiaopeng, Xpeng’s chairman and CEO, said in a Weibo post that the X9 had a backlog of more than 10,000 orders in January, which led to an impact on the supply of the G9.

Xpeng delivered a record 20,115 vehicles in December, of which the G9 contributed 5,405, or 26.87 percent, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
