    China’s EV battery installations in Nov: CATL’s share rises to 43.91%, BYD drops to 22.73%

    CATL‘s share increased by 1.1 percentage points in November from October, while BYD‘s decreased by 3.5 percentage points.

    CATL’s share of China’s electric vehicle (EV) battery market continued to rise in November, while BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY) saw another decline.

    In November, China’s power battery installations were 44.9 GWh, up 31 percent year-on-year and up 14.5 percent from October, according to data released today by the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (CABIA).

    CATL’s power battery installed capacity in November was 19.7 GWh, ranking first with a 43.91 percent share, up 1.1 percentage points from October’s 42.81 percent share.

    BYD’s power battery installed capacity was 10.2 GWh in November, ranking second with a 22.73 percent share, down 3.5 percentage points from 26.23 percent in October.

    BYD’s share of China’s power battery market was around 34 percent in both January and February. Since March, BYD’s share has been below 30 percent, except in May.

    CALB’s power battery installed capacity was 3.24 GWh in November, ranking third with a 7.21 percent share, down 2.46 percentage points from 9.67 percent in October.

    Gotion High-tech was fourth with a 4.7 percent share in November with an installed capacity of 2.11 GWh, overtaking Eve Energy.

    Eve Energy ranked fifth in November with 2.05 GWh installed and a 4.56 percent share.

    Gotion was overtaken by Eve Energy in April, a situation that lasted until July, and Gotion overtook Eve Energy in August to rank fourth, but was below Eve Energy in both September and October.

    China’s Li-ion ternary battery installed capacity was 15.7 GWh in November, accounting for 35 percent of the total, up 42.4 percent year-on-year and 27.5 percent from October.

    LFP battery installed capacity was 29.1 GWh, accounting for 64.9 percent of the total installed capacity, up 26 percent year-on-year and up 8.5 percent from October.

    In the LFP battery market, CATL’s installed base of 10.63 GWh in November surpassed that of BYD, topping the list with a 36.52 percent share, up from 31.84 percent in October.

    BYD’s installed base of 10.18 GWh in the LFP market was second with a 34.99 percent share, but lower than October’s 38.31 percent.

    China’s power battery exports stood at 13 GWh in November, down 42.48 percent year-on-year but up 13.04 percent from October.

    Ternary batteries exported 8.2 GWh and LFP batteries exported 4.7 GWh in November.

    In January-November, China’s power battery exports stood at 113.5 GWh.

    China’s total production of power and energy storage batteries in November was 87.7 GWh, up 38.33 percent year-on-year and up 13.45 percent from October.

    In January-November, China’s total production of power and energy storage batteries was 661.3 GWh, up 35.18 percent year-on-year.

    Global EV battery market share in Jan-Oct: CATL 36.9%, BYD 15.8%
